Woodbury: Mixed Media Paintings Highlight of Exhibit

Mixed media paintings by artist Ilmika Kulla will be on view during August at the Woodbury Public Library, 269 Main St. South.

WOODBURY — A show of mixed media paintings by artist Ilmika Kulla will be on view from August 3 to 31 in the Woodbury Public Library’s gallery space. Ms. Kulla’s style mixes influences of impressionism and expressionism as well as abstract and modern art. Her body of work includes portraits of recognizable icons, celebrities and influential figures with an abstract, modern look.

Born in Berat, Albania, Ms. Kulla moved to the United States with her parents in 1998.

She graduated from Central Connecticut State University with a B.S. in fine arts, but her passion for art was discovered at a young age.

She prides herself on the meditation aspect to art, relaying how she gets lost in her head while painting and how magical it is to see an image in her head and then translate it to the canvas.

“It’s amazing to see your vision come to life,” she said.

The show can be viewed during regular library hours.
