YOUTH RULES THE DAY

The Thomaston Soccer Club’s first-ever U9 girls travel team, nicknamed the Avalanche, defeated Woodbury-Bethlehem, 5-1 on September 7 at Highwood Farms Field in Thomaston. Playing for head coach Greg Blasko and assistant Beth Lahey were Madelyn Ciminera, Georgia Coer, Elyssa Desrosiers, Kailyn Hope, Kyla Lahey, Catherine Lowell, Diane McKearney, and Emma Wiles. Here, Georgia Coer (right) drives towards the goal. Said coach Blasko afterwards: “Despite being a small roster of younger players, the girls have already demonstrated they can be competitive in the U9 Northwest District League.”
