THOMASTON - New head coach Jenn Ewart couldn’t have asked for more from her Thomaston High School girls’ soccer team in their season-opening match.

Facing The Gilbert School, the Golden Bears poured on the offense, resulting in a 9-0 victory over the Yellowjackets on September 13.

“A total team effort and a total team win for the girls,” said Ewart.

That is was, as nine different players scored for Thomaston, with Abby Blasko, Haley Grecco, Elyse Krasnowski, Alexandra Houle, Danja Dauti, Mackenzie McCarthy, Alyssa Brostek, Hannah Lawlor, and Kylie Decker denting the back of the Gilbert net.

Thomaston kept the pressure on Gilbert goalkeeper Ajla Gutic all afternoon, forcing her to make 16 saves, while Golden Bear keeper Emily Root had three saves.
