DANBURY -  The GROWS Rapids 18U Blue softball team played a President’s Day doubleheader inside their winter indoor facility at the Danbury Sports Dome, earning a split of their games against Amity and Norwalk, giving them a 3-2 record after two weeks of play.

The Rapids scored seven runs in the top of the fourth inning to overcome a 4-2 deficit, ending up with a 9-4 win.

After the teams traded leads early, with the game knotted up at four, the Rapids took the lead for good in the fourth when an error by Norwalk sent home the tie-breaking run for Watertow.

Norwalk’s offense came in the bottom of the third inning, as they came back from a 2-0 Rapids lead.

Watertown took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on Kendall Allen’s RBI ground out.

In the pitching circle, Skylar Arent pitched Watertown to victory, going four innings, allowing four runs on four hits and striking out 11.

Watertown racked up 13 hits, with May Dawes (3), Felicia Salvati, Brianna Catalani, and Olivia Lombardi all having multi-hit games.


Against bAmity, the Rapids weren’t able to mount a comeback, as theyr were held to four hits while making three errors in a 6-0 loss.

Amity scored once in the top of the first inning, then took a 4-0 lead into the third inning before adding single runs in the fourth and fifth innings, aided by an 11-hit attack.

Nadia Cestari had two of the Watertown hits.
