Girls’ Soccer Shuts Out Torrington, 3-0

PRESSING - Watertown High School junior Madison Mancini doesn’t give ground as she battles for possession during NVL girls’ soccer action. Mancii and the Indians scored their first victory of the season when they defeated Torrington High School, 3-0 on October 7.

WATERTOWN- In the kind of dominant performance both they and their fans have come to expect, Watertown High School traveled up Route 8 to Torrington High School and departed the Frost Complex with a resounding 3-0 victory on October 7, their first of the season.

After two losses and a draw the begin the COVID-shortened 10-game schedule, the Indians put their game together, building momentum in anticipation of their October 14 match against Holy Cross High School on October 14 at Municipal Stadium.

The Indians will be out to avenge a 6-1 loss to the Crusaders on October 3 in that match, one coming on the heels of the postponement of their match against Sacred Heart/Kaynor on October 12 at Montoe Park, a blessing in disguise in a way, as the day was raw with temperatures in the low 40’s and rainy.

The schedule match was put on hold after a student tested positive for COVID-19, resulting in Sacred Heart postponing all athletic events through October 13.
