WATERBURY - In their first Connecticut Collegiate Baseball League post-season game, the Brass City Bombers defeated the Simsbury SaberCats 5-0 on August 3 at Municipal Stadium.

It was, as has been the case this season all about the pitching, as Grant Purpura, Matt Clarkin and Grant Stone combined on a one-hitter, striking out nine, with Purpura getting the nod as the winning hurler.

Offensively, former Watertown High School star Justin Guerrera had two hits and scored one run; Charlie Pagliarini had an RBI double and Nick Lorusso added one hit, one RBI and scored one run.

In their final regular season game, the Bombers lost to the Manchester Eagles, 3-1 in a Connecticut Collegiate Baseball League game on July 28.

The Bombers, who saw a six-game wining streak snapped by the loss, finished with a 14-5 record.
