To the Editor:

I would like to thank the Watertown Public Works Department. Last week a large tree on Frederick Street snapped and was hanging perilously in my yard on Hungerford Avenue. I called and spoke to a very helpful woman at the DPW. She took down my information and an hour later Mr. Roy Cavanaugh arrived.

He assessed the problem and left after assuring me he would take care of the matter. I went and ran a couple of errands and when I returned two hours later the broken tree section and branches had already been removed.

I would also like to thank his department for the great service they provide during snowstorms. Hungerford Avenue is one of the many steep hills in town but is always passable.

In the 45 years I have lived here only once was I not able to get my car to my driveway, and that was during the blizzard of 1978.
