To the Editor:

This letter is in regard to the January 14 Town Times article about opposing opinions given on Watertown High School’s Native American Indian mascot. As “one believed to bring good luck,” I feel the Native American logo should stay the same, but a more respectable term be used when describing the Native Americans for our schools other than mascot.

Also, the town should make it a point to teach Native American history as someone in the article suggested. But only the complete, true history.

I have read where diseases that the Europeans brought over to this country killed many Native Americans. The American Indian heritage in Watertown should not be lost.

If brought to a town vote I will vote to keep it.
