WATERTOWN — At a Zoning Board of Appeals meeting on Wednesday, April 28, a Public Hearing for a 15-foot, front-yard variance for a garage at 103 Jenks St. in Oakville was continued to Wednesday, May 26, so that members of the ZBA could do a site walk.

Moosa Rafey, the assistant planning and zoning enforcement officer, had also discovered there was a need for an additional rear-yard variance when he visited the site before the meeting. 

The notice for the hearing on May 26 will include that rear line variance.

Owners Matthew and Jessica Lemos explained they needed a place to store their lawn and garden equipment, as well as bicycles, in addition to any need for vehicle storage. 

They said these items were currently kept in the basement and they have to keep carrying the items up and down steep basement stairs whenever they needed to be used.

Mr. Rafey said the hardship was the fact that the lot is small and a corner lot, with two front-yard setbacks. 

The attached garage will be connected to the existing, non-conforming house with a new mud room and new porch.

In other action, the board approved an application for a new and used motor vehicle sales dealer and motor vehicle repair establishment at 69 Straits Tpke. for Blasius Kia.
