In the aftermath of the suicide bombings in Kabul, Afghanistan which killed 13 American servicemen and women on August 26, all American and United States Military flags were immediately ordered to be lowered to half-mast. As the nation reacted in shock and disbelief, the Stars and Stripes and flags of the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Coast Guard were flown at half mast at Veterans Memorial Park in Watertown as somber reminders of their sacrifice.
