Jeannette Veronica (Desruisseaux) Palmer

WATERTOWN — Jeannette Veronica (Desruisseaux) Palmer, wife of Robert Palmer, III, for 52 years, died July 3, 2021, at the Apple Rehab Center after a long illness. She was 87.

Jeannette was born on January 13, 1934, in Putnam, the second of three daughters to Antonio and Arthemise (Lampron) Desruisseaux. She spent most of her life in Watertown and graduated from St. John the Evangelist School and Sacred Heart High School in Waterbury.

She was a housewife and a devout Catholic who was deeply involved at St. John the Evangelist parish. She was a member of the Council of Catholic Women and participated in many activities at St. John’s School while her son, Christian Andrew Palmer of Milton, Mass., was a student there.

Left to cherish her memory along with Bob and Chris are her daughter-in-law, Jennifer (Meek) Palmer; her three beloved grandchildren, Luke William, Mackenzie Robert and Anne Rita Palmer, all of Milton, Mass.; her brothers-in-law, Richard Palmer of Oakville, Donald Furlani of Southwick, Mass., and Roger Hausch of St. Petersburg, Fla., and three nephews and two nieces.

She was predeceased by her parents and her sisters, Theresa Furlani and Rita Hausch.

Jeannette was a member of the large Lampron family and at one time had more than 80 first cousins, many in the Watertown area. She played a huge role in the family’s annual reunion and it was truly one of the highlights of her life.

She and Bob traveled to Florida frequently and before the arrival of their precious grandkids, had envisioned relocating to the Sunshine State.

They chose instead to remain in Watertown and were very active in and proud of their home turf.

Bob and family would like to thank friends Bob and Josephine Demske for their help and compassion during Jeannette’s difficult illness. Also a special thanks to her cousin, Lea Maisto, for her caring and to the caring professionals at Apple Rehab.

A Mass of Christian Burial took place Wednesday, July 7, at St. John the Evangelist Church, 574 Main St. Burial followed in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Platt Road.

Tthe Hickcox Funeral Home, 195 Main St., is in charge of arrangements.
