MANZANITA, Ore. — James "Jim" Arthur Berg of Manzanita, Ore., passed away Sunday, October 20, 2019 with his wife and sons by his side.

Jim was born March 18, 1937, a son of Hilda and Anton Berg. He was raised in Thomaston, where he attended school. He was involved in sports, baseball, basketball and soccer. He graduated from the University of Connecticut, majoring in business and playing on the soccer team.

After graduation he served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army. His professional life was in hardware, where he ran a consulting business specializing in sports stadiums, hospitals and schools.

Jim leaves behind his wife, Rebecca, and sons James "Jamey" (wife Heidi) and John "Tony" (wife Laura); three grandsons; his brother, William "Bill" Berg of Thomaston, and his sister, Elizabeth "Betty' Berg of New York, N.Y.

His brother, Richard, predeceased him.

A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 14, at the First Congregational Church, 135 Main St., Thomaston.
