WATERTOWN — Barbara (Green) (Curtiss) Brooks, 94, of Watertown, died Wednesday, February 10, 2021, at her home. She was the widow of Wooster B. Curtiss and Clifford W. Brooks.
Bobby was born on December 12, 1926, in Salem, N.J., daughter of the late Dr. David W. and Doris (Sneden) Green. She was raised in Salem, N.J., and lived in Watertown for her remaining years. A graduate of Skidmore College, she worked as a laboratory technician for Waterbury Hospital.
Bobby was a member of Sexta Feira, Friends of the Watertown Library and the Watertown Historical Society. She was a past member of the Watertown Foundation and the Watertown Board of Education.
Bobbidy, as she was affectionately known by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, left behind a legacy that won’t soon be forgotten. She taught them the importance of manners and the spoken word, the value of travel and that cocktail hour is promptly at 5 p.m.
She modeled strength and independence in her life, and while it feels like the end of an era, her grandchildren will always carry a piece of her spirit with them. They loved her dearly.
Bobby is survived by two daughters, Joan Wilson and her husband, Jeffrey, of Watertown, Ginny Stukshis and her husband, Mark, of Morris; a stepson, Ford Brooks of Shippensburg, Pa.; a sister, Doris Teter of Hilton Head, S.C.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, and her devoted caregiver and friend, Rachel.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Bobby was predeceased by two daughters, Laney May and KC Fitzpatrick.
A private memorial service for Bobby’s family took place Saturday, February 13, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Woodbury. Graveside services in Evergreen Cemetery will be held at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hickcox Funeral Home, 195 Main St.
