Transfer Station to Accept Christmas Trees

WATERTOWN — The Public Works Department will be taking Christmas trees from town residents at the transfer station. Residents may deposit their trees from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursdays and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays.

The transfer station is on Old Baird Road, off of Hamilton Avenue. There is no fee for this service and no permits are required if the only item is a Christmas tree.

All ornaments and other decorations should be removed prior to disposal. The trees will eventually be processed through a wood chipper and turned into wood chips and mulch. Free wood chips and mulch will then be available at the station this spring.

Those seeking additional information may call the Public Works Department at 860-945-5240.
