New Food Service Director Hired for Watertown Public Schools

WATERTOWN — The Watertown School District has announced that the Watertown Board of Education approved Joanna Schipke as the new food service director for Watertown Public Schools on Tuesday, September 22.

Ms. Schipke is a registered dietitian who received a bachelor’s degree in nutritional sciences from the University of Connecticut.

She completed a dietetic internship at Keene State College and began her career working with Hartford Public Schools in the Food and Child Nutrition Department.

She completed a year of service with Food Corps in New Britain Public Schools, where she provided nutrition education, cooking classes, and coordinated garden club programs.

In her most recent position, she was employed with Chartwells K12, a school food service management company, and provided nutrition support in Westport, Wilton, Region 9 and Ridgefield schools.

Ms. Schipke joined the district on September 28.
