SOUTHBURY-WOODBURY — The Southbury and Woodbury Democratic Town Committees will sponsor a Zoom Virtual Town Hall Event with U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal and Attorney General William Tong from 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday, October 18.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for constituents in the 32nd District to engage with state leaders, ask questions and hear their thoughts on a number of current societal issues,” said WDTC Chair Lesa Peters. “This is a pivotal election of great consequence and more than ever, voters should be engaged and informed.”

Sen. Blumenthal and Attorney General Tong will address topics that include the Supreme Court confirmation process, the Affordable Care Act, Freedom of Choice, QAnon and other appropriate topics suggested by attendees.

The Zoom Virtual Town Hall will be moderated by Vanita Bhalla, 32nd District representative to the Democratic State Central Committee. The speakers will make brief introductory speeches before Ms. Bhalla directs questions received in advance to each speaker.

The Zoom chat window will be open during the Town Hall for follow-up questions that will be addressed if time permits.

The following Democratic candidates running for local offices have been invited to attend and give a brief introduction: Jeff Desmarais, 32nd District State Senate; Matt Dyer, 66th House District, and Michele Zommer, 69th House District.

“It is our job as leaders of local Democratic Town Committees to provide as much information as possible regarding candidates and issues, to better inform the voter,” said SDTC Chair Michael Carrington.

“We are honored to have Sen. Blumenthal and Attorney General Tong join us to share their knowledge and views on the critical issues of our time. We hope residents will take advantage of this rare opportunity to learn and ask questions.”

Residents interested in attending the Zoom Virtual Town Hall may visit www.southburydemocrats.com or www.woodburydems.org for details and to reserve a seat. Reservations will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis for the first 100 guests who register.

Participants are invited to share a question with Sen. Blumenthal and A.G. Tong in the body of the registration form. Once the reservation is submitted, the Zoom link will be forwarded to the participant.
