WATERTOWN — In compliance with the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation Permit #153-50, the Town of Watertown announces that on Friday, November 25, Veterans’ Hill (Town Hall Hill) and Route 6 to the Green will be closed at approximately 4 p.m. and will reopen by 7 p.m. for the Watertown’s annual “Santa’s Holiday Light Parade” parade and event.
The parade will begin at Fire Headquarters, 935 Main St., up to and including Route 63/Main Street’s intersections with Route 6 and Veterans’ Hill (Town Hall Hill).
The event features Santa escorted by a procession of children and their guardians in an orderly manner, northerly direction on Main Street to the Town Gazebo, which is situated on Town Hall Hill, Main Street (Route 63) and Route 6.
The procession route will be blocked/covered at key intersections by uniformed police officers for the safety of participants and the motoring public. Additionally, marked police cruisers with activated lights will escort the procession in the front and rear. This procession will utilize a rolling stop, with the road reopening once Santa passes by.
The intersections to be covered by uniformed personnel and/or barricades include: French Street at Main Street, Atwood Court at Main Street. Woodruff Avenue at Main Street, Pythian Avenue at Main Street, Depot Street at Main Street, Echo Lake Road at Main Street, Heminway Park Road at Main Street, and the previously described intersections of Town Hall Hill (Veterans’ Hill), Route 6 and Route 63.
