Historical Society Plans Garden Dedication

THOMASTON — The Seth Thomas Bradstreet House of the Thomaston Historical Society will host a garden dedication in honor of Val Polowy at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 15 at the Seth Thomas Bradstreet House Museum, 237 Main St. Ms. Polowy, a Torrington native who taught for years in Winsted, was an active participant with the organization for years, alongside her husband Bill Polowy, a Thomaston high graduate who was the school psychologist.

With the assistance of a state grant in 2005 that Mrs. Polowy was a part of securing, the organization was able to purchase the house, contents and real estate.

She was also a member of the first Historical Commission and president of the Historical Society.

The garden dedication was made possible with generous donations on behalf of the Seth Thomas Bradstreet House Society.

Regular tour hours are from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays during the months of May, June, September and October.
