OAKVILLE — The Falls Avenue Community Center and Senior Services offers monthly special programs in addition to its recurring weekly activities for area adults 55 years of age and older. All events take place at the Falls Avenue Community Center and Senior Services at 311 Falls Ave.
Advance reservations are required for these programs. Those interested may call 860-945-5250 on or before the RSVP deadline.
The center does not accept voice mail reservations; all reservations must be confirmed by a staff member.
An Experts of Arthritis program will be presented at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 17 to help empower those with arthritis and their family members through information and practical strategies to manage the disease. Orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Leonard A. Kolstad of Comprehensive Orthopaedics is the presenter. Advance reservations are required by Tuesday, July 16.
The center’s Cooking with Corky class is at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 23. Chef Corky Plourde’s classes offer nutritious tips. Advance reservations are required by Monday, July 22.
Beyond Death, Medical Facts, Mysticism and Meditation is the topic at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 24. Dr. Matthew Raider, a physician specializing in geriatrics, will present the latest medical research and discover a simple, natural way to connect with the inner light talked about by those who experienced a near death experience. Advance reservations are required by Tuesday, July 23.
Accordion Stories from the Heart, a collection of inspiring stories of people who played the accordion over the last 200 years, will be presented at 2 p.m. Friday, July 26. Author and accordionist Angelo Paul Ramunni will discuss how his book came about and his experiences in collecting these stories. He also will perform a number of selections and tell stories from his book. Advance reservations are required by Thursday, July 25.
