OAKVILLE — The Falls Avenue Senior Center is located at 311 Falls Ave.

Hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The center will be closed on Monday, May 30 in observance of Memorial Day.

The Ms. Connecticut Senior America State Pageant is being held on Sunday, May 15 at Scinto Auditorium, 3 Corporate Drive in Shelton.

The Falls Ave Senior Center is proud to support its member, Marisa Crea, who has been accepted as a contestant. She is one of 10 contestants in the state of Connecticut competing for this title.

For the first time ever, tickets are sold out for this event. 

The AAA Defensive Driving Course will be offered from noon to 3 p.m. Friday May 13. This is a free three-hour course that provides a refresher on driving skills, strategies and traffic laws.

After successful completion of this course, participants may qualify for an auto insurance discount. There is a sign up sheet at the center.

A Blood Pressure Clinic is scheduled from 1:45 to 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, May 17. Sandy Micalizzi from Waterbury Hospital conduct blood pressure screenings. There is a sign up sheet at the center.

Senior Sandwich Central is coming to the center from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, May 19.

In honor of Older Americans Month, Senior Sandwich Central will offer a choice of egg, tuna salad or peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. The  sandwich will be served with chips, cookies, a piece of fruit and a bottle of water. There is a sign up sheet at the center.

The Happy Tappers will perform at the center at 1 p.m. Friday May 20. Enjoy the talent featuring Marissa Crea. The Happy Tappers started dancing in Heritage Village in 1997.

Thr group performs at the Musicale, which takes place on the first Wednesday of the month at Sarah Cooke Hall in Southbury.  There is a sign up sheet at the center.

Fri., May 13: Senior exercise, 9 a.m.; Bible study, 10 a.m.; AAA Defensive Driving, noon; mah jongg, 1 p.m.

Mon., May 16: Senior exercise, 9 a.m.; Bocce, 9:30 a.m.; Coffee/Chat with Laura, 9:30 a.m.; chair aerobics, 10:30 a.m.; pinochle, noon; Pokeno, 1 p.m.

Tue., May 17: Chair yoga, 9:30 a.m.; line dancing, 10:30 a.m.; Walking club, 11:30 a.m.; poker, noon; Wii bowling, 1 p.m.; knit/crochet, 1 p.m.; blood pressure clinic, 1:45 p.m.

Wed., May 18: Senior exercise, 9 a.m.; Scrabble, 10 a.m.; Wii bowling, 10 a.m.; Setback, noon.
