ROXBURY — The Minor Memorial Library in Roxbury welcomes Bert terHart to share his sailing adventure in “Around Alone” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 11, on Zoom. There is no charge for this program; registration is required. Registration may be made online at www.minormemoriallibrary.org to receive the Zoom link. Bert terHart is the first North American to sail solo, non-stop, west to east, around the five great capes, using only traditional navigational tools.

A recipient of an Ocean Cruising Club Challenge Grant, Bert returned home this summer after 265 days at sea in his 46-foot sailboat, Seaburban.

Over the course of his nine-month journey Bert encountered gales, high seas and calms. He will join the Zoom event from British Columbia.

Mr. terHart has advanced degrees in math, physics and physical oceanography and has studied the role the world’s oceans and coastal seas play in moderating and regulating climate, nutrient productivity and pollution distributions, and salmon migration.

Those seeking additional information may call the library at 860-350-2181 or visit the website at www.minormemoriallibrary.org
