Young Professionals Set Blanket Drive

WATERBURY — The Young Professionals of Waterbury Region will host its sixth annual Warm Someone’s Heart Blanket Drive until November 1. Every year, the group collects hundreds of new or lightly-used blankets and monetary gifts to support seven area charitable organizations.

Through the beginning of November, contributions will be collected to donate to Acts 4 Ministry, Greater Waterbury Interfaith Ministries, Greater Waterbury YMCA, Naugatuck YMCA, St. Vincent De Paul Mission Homeless Shelter, Salvation Army and New Opportunities Meals on Wheels Program to provide warmth to local adults and children in need.

“Being a non-profit recipient of the blanket drive since its inception has enabled us to serve more people over the past six years than we ever would have been able to otherwise,” said Sarah Carabetta, executive director of Acts 4 Ministry.

“This is the sixth year we will be hosting the Warm Someone’s Heart Blanket Drive,” said Courtney Ligi, director of YPOWR. “We are very confident many people in our local community will want to contribute.”
