St. Mary’s Hospital Welcomes New Gastroenterologist to Medical Group

Priyanka Chugh, M.D.

NAUGATUCK — St. Mary’s Hospital has welcomed Priyanka Chugh, M.D., as a gastroenterologist for Trinity Health of New England Medical Group.

Dr. Chugh will be joining the Gastroenterology Center of Excellence, located at 58 Maple St. in Naugatuck.

Dr. Chugh will be joining the Gastroenterology Center of Excellence which includes the team of Dr. Joel Garsten, Dr. Magdi Khalil, Dr. Bhupinder Lyall, Dr. Albert Marano, Dr. Russell Parvin, Dr. Uday Shankar, Dr. Demetrios Tzimas, Dr. Ronald Zlotoff, Macaela Cirish, APRN, Michele Pierce, PA-C, and Stephanie Dibble, PA-C.

Dr. Chugh received her medical education from Drexel University College of Medicine and completed her residency at New York University Bellevue Hospital.

She completed her gastroenterology and hepatology fellowships from New York Medical College Westchester Medical Center, serving as chief gastroenterology fellow.

Dr. Chugh is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology. 

Her research and clinical interests include complex liver diseases, inflammatory bowel disease, inflammatory bowel syndrome, colon cancer screening, peptic ulcer disease and gastroesophageal reflux disease.

She also has a clinical interest in obesity and nutrition in overall health and will be certified by the American Board of Obesity Medicine in 2021.

Dr. Chugh takes a patient-centered approach to medicine, following a shared decision-making model for patient care.

She is dedicated to ensuring her patients are well informed and comfortable, for them to feel empowered in making healthcare decisions that improve overall outcomes.  

She is accepting new patients with general and advanced gastroenterology needs and is available for consultation and gastroenterology procedures, including endoscopies and colonoscopies.
