WATERBURY — Dr. Marc Bernbach, DPM, welcomed Dr. Steven Massucci, DPM as an associate podiatrist at Waterbury Podiatry Consultants, 171 Grandview Ave. The addition of Dr. Massucci expands the podiatric medical/surgical practice that has provided podiatric care to the greater Waterbury community since 1952. His state-of-the-art surgical and clinical training and his deep community roots continue the tradition of Waterbury Podiatry Consultants’ long-term commitment to serve the Waterbury community.
Dr. Massucci said, “I am excited to come back to Connecticut and work with Dr. Bernbach and his staff. Dr. Bernbach has been a leader in the podiatric field for many years.”
After Dr. Bernbach received his degree from the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine, he was one of the first podiatrists in the country to complete a three-year, reconstructive foot and ankle surgical residency program at the Doctor’s Hospital in Metropolitan Atlanta, which is now part of the Emory-Decatur system.
Dr. Bernbach is board certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery in Reconstructive Foot and Ankle Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.
He has authored numerous papers and textbook chapters on foot surgery, been recognized as a Top Doc by Connecticut Magazine for many consecutive years, and has lectured extensively on foot surgery nationally as well as internationally.
He holds numerous leadership roles in the local healthcare community, serving as the chairman of the Podiatric Section, Department of Surgery at Waterbury Hospital for more than 10 years, and as a founding member of the Waterbury Surgery Center.
Dr. Massucci grew up in Southington and graduated from UConn with a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences prior to his attendance at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine where he earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine.
Dr. Massucci joins the practice after completion of a three-year surgical residency at Roger Williams Medical Center in Providence, R.I. with a reconstructive rearfoot and ankle certification.
While there, he completed more than 1,000 diverse forefoot and rearfoot surgical cases and gained extensive training in limb salvage, wound care, and sports medicine.
Working in three separate teaching hospitals in Providence, affiliated with Boston University and Brown University, Dr. Massucci gained a comprehensive knowledge base from some of the premier medical experts in their respective fields.
He also served as the chief resident in his final year of training and was a guest speaker at multiple professional conferences in the state of Rhode Island.
In addition to caring for patients at the Waterbury Podiatry Consultants’ Grandview Avenue office, Dr. Massucci is also fully credentialed at Waterbury Hospital and will be on staff at the new Center for Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine.
He will also have privileges at St. Mary’s Hospital and the Waterbury Surgery Center.
Dr. Massucci is currently accepting new patients and most insurance carriers.
