ROXBURY — A grant from the Northwest Connecticut Community Foundation will help Little Britches Therapeutic Riding provide riding and equine-assisted activities to individuals with disabilities.
“We’re extremely grateful for the foundation’s support,” said Little Britches Executive Director Alice Daly.
The grant was made possible by the Edward W. Diskavich Fund, a personal fund that is a part of the Northwest Connecticut Community Foundation.
Little Britches, a nonprofit based at Tophet Road Farm, just completed its summer program.
Riders and staff are looking forward to their 2021 fall session.
The riders, mostly children, come from 29 area towns and have a variety of disabilities.
The program is seeking volunteers to lead horses and sidewalk; no horse experience is necessary.
In a first for the therapeutic riding program, Little Britches will be partnering with Shepaug Agriscience for an extended winter program.
Winter sessions will be held in the school’s beautiful indoor riding facility.
