WATERBURY — The Waterbury Hospital Community Programs Department is offering a free, interactive six-week Live Well with Diabetes workshop from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, January 20 to February 24, at 140 Grandview Ave., Suite LL-02.

The interactive and informative workshop is intended to help people with diabetes or prediabetes and their family members or caregivers learn new skills to help manage diabetes.

Participants will learn about healthy eating, being active, blood sugar goals, how to treat low blood sugar, taking medications, communicating with healthcare providers, basic foot care and sick day guidelines.

Other topics will include creating sample menus, learning about stress management and difficult emotions, developing action plans and avoiding complications.

There will be books and gifts for all participants, and those who attend at least four of the six weeks will receive a $25 gift card.
