TORRINGTON — Charlotte Hungerford Hospital has updated its visitor policy and is not allowing visitors in its Emergency Department as an additional safety precaution until further notice. ED patients may still use the ED entrance for care.

Visitors are currently still allowed for inpatient areas and are required to enter through the main front hospital entrance at 540 Litchfield St.

The Emergency Department is open 24/7 to patients only. The main front entrance is open to all visitors to areas other than ED, patients and vendors. All individuals will be health screened and have their temperature taken.

The Outpatient/Blood Draw entrance is closed to patients/visitors; the Turner Coe Annex entrance is closed to patients/visitors.

This policy change applies to the Emergency Department only. The CHH campus Medical Office Building at 538 Litchfield St. and all other CHH offisite facilities and provider practices including the Center For Cancer Care are not affected at this time.

All incoming patients and visitors coming through the main entrance will be asked to wear a face mask, and receive a health screening and temperature check.

Inpatient visiting hours are from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, weekends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. No visitors are allowed under the age of 16.

One visitor is allowed per patient at a time for a one hour visit.

Visitors are asked not to visit the hospital if they are ill or have symptoms of cold or flu.

People not visiting patients are asked not come to the hospital. Only one visitor per patient is allowed at a time.
