At Charlotte Hungerford: Hospital Welcomes New Neurologist

TORRINGTON — The Hartford HealthCare Ayer Neuroscience Institute at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital recently welcomed Dr. Nabi Chowdhury. He is now accepting patients one day a week at the new CHH Specialty Care office located at 76 Watertown Rd., Thomaston. The practice offers neurological evaluations, diagnosis and treatment of diseases and disorders of the brain, spinal cord and nervous system.

The neurologists use technology to diagnose and treat conditions including movement disorders such as Parkinson’s disease, headache, stroke, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy and peripheral neuropathy. 

“Charlotte Hungerford Hospital and its partners at Hartford HealthCare’s Ayer Neuroscience Institute are continuing to add local neurology providers with new services in Thomaston,” said Dan McIntyre, HHC’s senior vice president of the Northwest Region and CHH president. 

“We are happy to have Dr. Chowdhury join our team,” he said. 

Dr. Chowdhury is a graduate of St. George’s University School of Medicine, Grenada, West Indies and was a resident in neurology at UMass Memorial Medical Center, Worchester, Mass.

He is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine.

The Ayer Neuroscience Institute has increased access to neurology services for patients with the addition of three neurologists, Dr. Hugh Cahill, Dr. Lucas Meira-Benchaya and Dr. Sarah Meira-Benchaya, and a physician assistant, Sabra Becker, located in Medical Office Building CHH, 538 Litchfield St., Suite 104.

They are now accepting patients in Torrington.

Dr. Chowdhury is currently accepting patients from 8:30 a.m. through 5 p.m. three days a week in Torrington and one day a week in Thomaston 

He shares the CHH Specialty Care office with providers from HHC’s Tallwood Urology and Kidney Institute, Heart and Vascular Institute and the CHH Foot Center and Nutrition Services.

The office is in the same complex as HCC Medical Group Primary Care Thomaston.
