WATERTOWN — The Watertown Garden Club invites all who have a love of gardening to become a member.
The club’s mission is to present programs and activities encouraging the interest and love of gardening through better horticultural practices, as well as aiding in the protection of wildflowers, trees and birds, while stressing the planting and beautification of local properties.
The club maintains a beautification program in Watertown and Oakville by creating the seasonal planters at various public spaces in Watertown and Oakville.
The club hosts community-oriented garden therapy sessions at the Apple Rehab Center and the Watertown Convalarium.
A Junior Gardening Club is offered at Swift Junior High School.
The Garden Club offers an annual scholarship. This year’s scholarship recipient is Jessica Stango from Watertown High School, who will pursue a study in environmental engineering at the University of Connecticut.
The Watertown Garden Club is a member of the Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut. Meetings are hosted the second Thursday of each month at the Union Congregational Church, Buckingham St., Oakville.
