‘Fireflies’ on Stage in Oakville

OAKVILLE — The Phoenix Stage Company will host performances of “Fireflies” at 8 p.m. Friday, July 19; Saturday, July 20; Friday, July 26 and Saturday, July 27 with Sunday performances at 3 p.m. on July 14 and 21. From the novel “Eleanor and Abel” by Annette Sanford, retired schoolteacher Eleanor Bannister lives a quiet life alone in tiny Groverdell, Texas, set in her routines and secure in her position as the town’s most respected woman— until a hole in her roof draws the attention of Abel Brown, a smooth-talking drifter intent on renovating Eleanor’s house, and possibly her life.

Directed by Agnes Dann with Stage Manager Becky Venable, the cast includes Helen Adams as Eleanor Bannister, Jane Coughlin as Grace Bodell, Ed Bassett at Abel Brown and Brian Elser as Officer Eugene Claymire

Tickets cost $23 each for general admission and $20 for teachers, students and seniors (60+).
