August 2020 marks the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment, giving women across the country the right to vote. Celebrate this historic milestone with the Waterbury Symphony Orchestra in a salute to women composers past and present. Presented virtually on YouTube at 7:30 pm, Saturday, August 15th, the program features pivotal works by women, including Libby Larsen’s Fanfare for the Women, Maria Theresia von Paradis’ Sicilienne, Cécile Chaminade’s Concertino, Idabelle Firestone’s If I Could Tell You, and two pieces by Connecticut’s very own Sharon Ruchman. Featuring performances by friends and members of the Waterbury Symphony Orchestra.
